Michael Jordan (New York, February 17, 1963) is a former professional basketball player from North America, currently owner of the NBA team Charlotte Hornets. He is considered as the best basketball player of all time and by many as one of the most important male sportsmen in history.

Jordan studied at the University of North Carolina where he was an NCAA champion in 1982. He entered the NBA in 1984 when he was chosen by the Chicago Bulls and soon became one of the stars of the league because of his incredible ability to score and skill in jumps. Jordan was one of the best scorers basketball has ever seen.

He won his first NBA title in 1991, followed by two more trophies. Before the 1993-94 season began, Jordan retired from basketball to play baseball, but quickly returned to the courts in 1995 and led the Chicago Bulls to another 3 consecutive titles between 1996 and 1998. In 1999 he announced another retirement, taking over a post among the leaders of the Washington Wizards.
